hard drive – Screen hanging after choosing to Fix Disk Image – restore to previous working state

I believe I’ve gotten myself into a bit of a mess. I went to wipe my disks ready to handover my iMac. I wiped the disks, then accidentally restarted the machine.

Got the “?” folder appear. Restarted and got it into internet recovery mode, which finished then booted into Recovery mode. It then appeared that this caused issues to my disks which now appear red in the disk utility window.

It asked me to “restore to a previous working state”, I hit fix. Now its been hanging like (see image) for at least 5-6hrs. Does it generally take this long?

Any help would be greatly appreciatedenter image description here

published adventures – Looking for 5e D&D module maker software like Neverwinter Nights

I’ve written some D&D 5e adventures, and I’m evaluating building them as a third-party (second-party?) video game module. Neverwinter Nights (NWN) from 2002 has the Aurora toolset which allows third-party module creation, but NWN is D&D 3e. Does anyone know of an existing or planned D&D computer game that has a similar module toolset? It doesn’t look as if Solasta: Magister or Baldur’s Gate 3 has this type of tool.

graphics – Why is there a discrepency between JoinedCurve/FilledCurve and the underlying BSplineCurve segments?

This may be related to How to discretize a BezierCurve?, but this question deals with BSplineCurves with specific SplineWeights, so I don’t think the answers there will help here.

Background

I am using version 11.3.0.0 (on Mac OS 10.11.5).

I recently wrote an Arc function that takes the same arguments as Circle. This spits out a list of degree 2 BSplineCurves with the appropriate SplineWeights to generate pieces of a circle. I did this so that the last piece can be wrapped in an Arrow to make circular-arc arrows.

I also wanted to use JoinedCurve and FilledCurve with the arcs, which cannot be done with Circle.

The Problem

The code

segments = {
BSplineCurve({{1, 0}, {1, 1}, {0, 1}}, SplineWeights -> {1, 1/Sqrt(2), 1}),
BSplineCurve({{0, 1}, {-1, 1}, {-1, 0}}, SplineWeights -> {1, 1/Sqrt(2), 1})
};
Graphics({{Red,segments},JoinedCurve(segments)})

produces the output

JoinedCurve bug

The red curve is drawn first and seems to be correct. The black curve is drawn second and overlays the first segment properly; however, the second segment doesn’t quite follow the red circle. Ideally, the black curve should completely obscure the red curve.

I was thinking that the problem might be that that JoinedCurve was trying to use a cubic spline to try to match the quadratic rational spline; however, then the first segment would not overlay so precisely (a cubic spline cannot exactly trace an arc of a circle unless it employs the proper weights).

The same problem is displayed by FilledCurve:

segments = {
BSplineCurve({{1/4, -(3/4)}, {1, -(3/4)}, {1, 0}}, SplineWeights -> {1, 1/Sqrt(2), 1}),
BSplineCurve({{1, 0}, {1, 3/4}, {1/4, 3/4}}, SplineWeights -> {1, 1/Sqrt(2), 1}),
Line({{1/4, 3/4}, {-(1/4), 3/4}}),
BSplineCurve({{-(1/4), 3/4}, {-1, 3/4}, {-1, 0}}, SplineWeights -> {1, 1/Sqrt(2), 1}),
BSplineCurve({{-1, 0}, {-1, -(3/4)}, {-(1/4), -(3/4)}}, SplineWeights -> {1, 1/Sqrt(2), 1}),
Line({{-(1/4), -(3/4)}, {1/4, -(3/4)}})
};
Graphics({{Red, segments}, FilledCurve(segments)})

Does anyone know what is going on here, and whether this persists in newer versions as well.

mnemonic seed – Pseudo code to find Bip39 checksum?

I’m trying to find the checksum for a 12-word BIP39. I’m using Node.js, but I don’t think the problem is technical. I think the problem is that I just don’t understand conceptually how to find the checksum.

I can find the first eleven words just fine, but my 12th word is always off by a few positions.

For example, take the 128-bit entropy e84eaa26330ccbb2f866a1dc155e94ba.

In binary that is 11101000010011101010101000100110001100110000110011001011101100101111100001100110101000011101110000010101010111101001010010111010.

The first eleven 11-bit words are:

11101000010 (bin) => 1858 (decimal) => tribe
01110101010 (bin) => 938  (decimal) => inspire
10001001100 (bin) => 1100 (decimal) => maze
01100110000 (bin) => 816  (decimal) => gravity
11001100101 (bin) => 1637 (decimal) => smile
11011001011 (bin) => 1739 (decimal) => sunny
11100001100 (bin) => 1804 (decimal) => thunder
11010100001 (bin) => 1697 (decimal) => stage
11011100000 (bin) => 1760 (decimal) => swing
10101010111 (bin) => 1367 (decimal) => priority
10100101001 (bin) => 1321 (decimal) => pioneer

There are still 7 unused bits, the last ones: 0111010.

The SHA-256 hash of the hex string is 5355d54a3d673c4b1ac20b839ead09af3c6fea6dc24199b477f6ff64e7a68262.
The first 4 bits of that are represented by the first hex character, 5, which in binary is 0101.

I append those 4 bytes to my binary string:
111010000100111010101010001001100011001100001100110010111011001011111000011001101010000111011100000101010101111010010100101110100101

Now I have the last 11-bit word:

01110100101 (bin) => 933 (decimal) => input

But when I try to validate that against Ian Coleman’s Bip39 I see the checksum should be 0011 (not 0101) and that would make the last word be

01110100011 (bin) => 931 (decimal) => inner

python – How to make a readable pandas dataframe table from values which are dictionaries and list of dictionaries at the same time?

soccer odds

Sorry if I am not asking this right but I am kind of new in python world and in stack overflow too.

I have this data (see image) which I am trying to get into a dataframe and I just can’t do it no matter what I try. It seems too complicated.

Every value is a dictionary with list of dictionaries in it.

I would like to get certain keys for columns (the betting description eg ‘win’,’draw’) and the values as data of cell for every row of the 4601 rows!

Every row represents a soccer game and the data contains all the odds for every game (win, lose, draw, over2 goals etc) but in this messy way.

Can it be done?

Thanx in advance
