Configuring apache forwards my site to index.php for root

Wrestling with the following problem: CPanel, on forced hosting index, must be index.php and returns all requests that it be root, that is, & # 39; / & # 39 ;.
I've already tried using the htaccess file to overwrite this – without any success.

The general idea is to run Ghost bloggin on shared hosting. In fact, everything works except the index context (/) which is redirected to index.php. I know it's not recommended – unfortunately, I really like Ghost, but I can not afford a VPS or something similar.

I know this is not related to CPanel and the main question is: is it possible to apply a directive .htaccess who could solve this problem?

Any ideas how can this be achieved?
