Is the fuzzing software secure? – Information security stack exchange

There is no way to give you a probability of each program but I can say that no it is not safe to run a fuzzer on a program having access to a file system that you do not want to damage. Although programs that do not make any input / output are much less likely to delete or modify files, this is entirely possible. Data on file systems was damaged (and in one case, the file system itself was corrupted) as a result of fuzzing with AFL. Fortunately in my case, the program had access only to an empty partition …
