macbook – The recovery mode is not normal

I'm working on my macbook pro (2012). I left a colleague to borrow it for a job and they did some weird things with, but it seemed like I was going when I closed it yesterday. When I tried to start it this morning, he did not charge me to log in to my admin profile, but after about a minute, an image of a folder with a question mark appeared and flashed on the screen.
After restarting it several times, then trying the safe mode with the same results, I tried to start it in recovery mode with cmd-R (and possibly three other key combinations for the mode recovery, but this would only start in Internet recovery mode). I can not use internet recovery at the moment, because my only source of internet is on my phone's access point and does not even allow me to connect to my phone.
Please help.
