display – LG UltraFine 5K Firmware Update

I have a LG Ultrafine 5K monitor (27MD5KA-B). I finally wanted to fix the volume problem and I just discovered that there should be a firmware update that should be installed via the LG Screen Manager software.

I have installed LG Screen Manager and it is stated that my monitor is up to date with version 3.01., 1.11, 5234.3.00

From what I understand, there should be at least version 3.04,1.13,5237,3.04,0.1e

I've also tried to find a firmware file to download manually, but all the links I've found are dead, for example:

http://lmu.lge.com/ExternalService/lgscreenmanager/mac/FW/27MD5KA_MP3/MODEL_27MD5KA_SV3.04_CV1.13_HV5237_NV3.04_AV0.1e_20170705.zip

http://lmu.lge.com/ExternalService/lgscreenmanager/mac/FW/27MD5KA_MP3/FWLatestVersion.txt

The monitor dates from January 2017, making it one of the first models to have also suffered shielding problems (which has been corrected). It is paired with a MacBook Pro 15 "touchbar 2016, still under MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6.

I would be grateful for any tip on how to update the firmware or links to the firmware file.

Update: I just searched LG Screen Manager with Charles Proxy and realized he was trying to recover FWLatestVersion.txt link above.

hardware – Black screen when using 4 RAM sticks on the brand new 5K iMac

I bought a 5K iKM 4 months ago, with the stock of 8GB of RAM. I bought 2 x 4 GB extra on Amazon (Crucial Ram). But then, it seems that I can not use the 4 RAM slots at the same time. The iMac does not even start, only displays a black screen.
The Crucial ram sticks work 100% because I tried to remove the original ram sticks, using only the new ones, and that the Mac starts and works properly.
Right now, I run the iMac with 3 of the 4 sticks, so at the moment I have 12 GB of RAM.
I've tried using the 3 best sites, it works. Down 3, it works.
2 slots works too.
But as soon as I insert a 4th ram stick, it stops working
I have reinstalled the SMC and NVRAM. Still no luck
Also updated Mojave at 10.14.2 (latest version)

Ideas?
I would like to see if I can try something before setting an appointment with Apple for this, as it is my main work machine and I have to work on some projects now.

Thank you so much!

Display – LG UltraFine 5K Numbers with MacBook Pro 2017

Yesterday, everything worked well. I had my MacBook Pro (four USB-C ports and a touch bar) connected to my LG UltraFine 5K monitor (Model's official name: LG 27MD5KA – B). At the end of my work day, I turned everything off. In the morning, I restarted everything but nothing seemed to work.

I proceeded to disconnect the monitor from the MBP and this one turned on without any problem. I've tried to plug in the monitor again and the MBP's screen has turned black. Eventually, the touch bar was no longer responding. I've tried all kinds of combinations to solve the problem:

  • Turn off the MBP, unplug everything from the mains, wait a moment and reconnect everything;
  • MBP PRAM reset;
  • MBP SMC reset;
  • Tried with another MBP touch bar;

One thing works only when the LG UltraFine 5K is connected to the mains and I connect an MBP with the cover. In this case, the monitor turns on, although very weakly, I can see the Apple logo, then suddenly the logo extends horizontally on the screen and the bottom quarter of the screen is distorted (everything is very pale) . If I open the lid, only the Caps Lock appears to work (which suggests that the computer has not crashed). If I pick up the MPB, it responds without problems after a few seconds. The reconnection and the MBP screen turn black and the computer stops responding (except for the capital lock). However, I can access the computer by remote connection (SSH) and have managed to turn it off or restart from there (sudo shutdown -h now or sudo shutdown -r now).

I even downloaded the LG screen manager, but the application seems totally useless in my case (although the copyright notice seems strange, it says "Copyright 2016-2026 LG Electronics Inc." ).

Do you have any suggestions to make (apart from bringing the device for repair)?
