Last month we talked to Dustin Cisneros, CEO of RackNerd and today, as we continue our question and answer sessions on interview style, we sit down with Nahian, CEO of Nexus Bytes . So let's start with the interview!

What can you tell us about yourself, how you got to where you are today and your role in your business?

I am a retailer for life. I owned and operated several successful store chains in 6 different states between 2010-2018. In mid-2018, I sold all of my retail businesses so that I could spend quality time with my friends and family and focus on self-improvement. I am currently working as a franchise consultant and regional sales manager for a large national telecommunications company. I've been in the hosting world since the start of 2008, I owned and operated HostCell.net, a fairly famous free post2host web hosting site at the time. In 2011, I partnered with one of my cousins ​​and together we changed brands and created Ninja Hawk. After successfully operating under the new brand for 2 more years, due to internal conflicts, the brand was sold to TMZ VPS and I took a little time on the Internet and I focused on increasing my presence in the retail business.

However, being a lifelong geek, my passion for hosting the industry has never died. In 2016, I opened my last store at Hartford Connecticut and after successfully launching the last store, I wanted to do something slightly different that would make my indoor geek happy and in mid 2016, Nexus Bytes LLC was born. Nexus Bytes initially targeted local accounting and retail businesses in CT and NY, where we offered and provided hosting and IT infrastructure and powered several small local brands and family businesses.

In 2018, when I sold all of my businesses, I wanted to do something more with my spare time, and I launched ServedEZ, a no-frills free web hosting service from Nexus Bytes LLC. It was created as a charity project, to offer something in return to the Internet community, providing an easy starting ground for those who need a safe and secure place to host their website / projects and who are not able to pay.

In mid-2019, I wanted to do a little more. As a lifelong entrepreneur, I realized that it was time to take Nexus Bytes to the next level and expand our range of services to a global audience, which would complement our brand. Serve. Keep an open mind. Ask for comments, listen to those comments, and don't be defensive. Do not be arrogant and respectful, not only towards your customers, but also towards your peers, towards other companies. Stay professional, stay calm and transparent. Tough times will come and you may get the impression that things are not going as planned. Don't panic. Try to be creative and focus on keeping your head up high.

Never compete with the price. You cannot compete with someone with a deep pocket, nor can you compete with someone who is there to make money quickly, defaults on their bill and deadpool after some months. Focus on building a brand, money will follow.

You will make mistakes. These mistakes will not make you a bad person or a bad business. However, not learning from these mistakes will. Difficult times will come! It is only a matter of time. Be prepared for the worst.

Would you recommend the accommodation industry as a source of opportunity for entrepreneurs?

It is a difficult and over-saturated industry. But at the same time, there is always room for someone new. As long as you offer something, it's unique enough to add extra value. Don't be a themeforest model, with a whmcs / blesta installation and a paypal account.

Open your laptop and calculator. To take notes. Do your math correctly. Can you survive 1 year, with 0 clients and no incoming income? If the answer is yes, go ahead. If the answer is no, you are not ready. There is nothing in between.

What do you like most about your role?

It’s exciting. Keep my mind active. I appreciate and admire the love I receive from my Nexus Bytes family members. It is your love and your attention that make the brand grow!

What seems most difficult to you?

Customers, who run a difficult business. I am all to offer a good deal. However, by asking several times, to match the price or lower it, when I / we have made it clear that we cannot do it. We will work with any existing and potential customer, within our limits, however, at the same time we expect the person on the other side to also work with us. :)

What are your guiding principles both personally and professionally?

I live by two sayings,

"It takes two hands to clap, but one to slap"
"Today is what we have, now is where we are." Lets make today the best day of our lives and now the best time ”
