java – Disable background dim when alert dialog is shown

I want to disable the dimming of the background when an alert dialog is shown.

An option would be to design my own type of dialog box, but I rather not

My code:

public void infoWindow() {
    AlertDialog.Builder alert = new AlertDialog.Builder(this);

    alert.setTitle("name");
    alert.setMessage("Opening hours: ");

    final AlertDialog alertdialog = alert.create();
    alertdialog.show();
}

The picture below is from the web to show how a potential alert dialog would look like

ethics – Collecting consumer contact information to alert individuals in case of data breach for B2B companies

If you are a B2B company (US), you may collect data on your clients as well as your clients’ customers. For example, let’s say the only thing you need to collect is your clients’ customers’ names.

In the case that your company has a data leak and the individuals’ names are shared with an unauthorized third party, (I believe) you have an obligation to inform someone.

What is the standard practice? Do you directly email the individual and say their information was leaked? Or do you give your client (a business) a list of the client’s whose data was impacted and let them reach out to the impacted clients.

In the case of emailing the impacted clients directly, what if you do not collect their contact information, and have no way to contact them?

Real world example: my personal data was leaked by a B2B software company that I had never heard of. I was contacted by the software company directly as well as their client who I had used the services of. Was it the responsibility of the B2B software company to collect my email in case they needed to contact me directly?

Periods at the end of a sentence in alert message

To me, a sentence is required to end with a period to distinguish it from the next sentence in a paragraph. If there is only one sentence, and a short one at that (e.g. “Error while downloading file”) then why do we need a period at the end? If you have Growl-type notifications, the sentences are already enclosed in a dialog box. This is not poetry or literature, these are just short-lived notifications.

I went through our application messages (warnings, errors, confirmations, etc.), I was sure I didn’t need to put a period (full-stop) at the end. I’m all about proper grammar and syntax and I never type even popular abbreviations in my messages, but this is a different story.

Not to mention the following:
http://www.newrepublic.com/article/115726/period-our-simplest-punctuation-mark-has-become-sign-anger

Oh, and in the example mentioned by Bart, there are 2 or 3 parts indeed, and the answer is clear, but what if you have only one sentence, no titles or anything else?

Obrigado a quem me ajudar.

sharepoint server – Creating a new alert cause “List does not exist.”

I have a script that create alerts for specific document libraries in multiple webs. It work with sharepoint-server cmdlet and is aimed at SharePoint 2013. I tested the script with a test library and user with no issue at all.

#----------------------------------------------------------(Declarations)----------------------------------------------------------

# Site where the alerts will be added, all the subsite will be handled
$siteToHandleUrl = "A Valid Url"

# Email that will recieve all the alerts
$emailToAlert = "A Valid Email"

# Lists where alerts will be added
$listsToHandle = @("A Valid List Name")

#-----------------------------------------------------------(Execution)------------------------------------------------------------

$web = Get-SPWeb -Identity $siteToHandleUrl
$webs = $web.Site.AllWebs | Where-Object {$_.Url -like "$siteToHandleUrl*"}
$user = $web.EnsureUser($emailToAlert)
$existingAlerts = $user.Alerts.Title
if ($null -eq $existingAlerts) {
    $existingAlerts = @()
}
$addedAlerts = @()

foreach ($web in $webs) {
    Write-Host "Handling $($web.Title)"
    $lists = $web.Lists

    foreach ($listToHandle in $listsToHandle) {
         $alertName = "Automated Alert for $($list.Title) in $($web.Title)"
         $list = $web.Lists($listToHandle)

        if (-not $existingAlerts.Contains($alertName)) {
            Write-Host "Adding alert for $($list.Title)"

            $newAlert = $user.Alerts.Add()
            $newAlert.Title = $alertName
            $newAlert.AlertType=(Microsoft.SharePoint.SPAlertType)::List
            $newAlert.List = $list
            $newAlert.DeliveryChannels = (Microsoft.SharePoint.SPAlertDeliveryChannels)::Email
            $newAlert.EventType = (Microsoft.SharePoint.SPEventType)::All
            $newAlert.AlertFrequency = (Microsoft.SharePoint.SPAlertFrequency)::Daily
            $newAlert.Update()
        }
    }
}

Now when I try this script for the actual librairies, I get this error message on the $newAlert.Update() :

Exception calling "Update" with "0" argument(s): "List does not exist.
The page you selected contains a list that does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user."

Yet the library do exist and the object is literally coming from the web. Debugging show that $user has a valid user and $list has the list object. If I go the SharePoint site, I can add manually a new alert with no issues.

antivirus – API GET Request resulted in a Bitdefender thread alert

This is a very strange occurrence and could be a false alarm.

I am testing an API from an advertisement network for my WPF desktop app.

I made a GET request to this exact test link (generic sample provided by the ad network):

https://adapi.addealsnetwork.com/addeals/rest/v2/campaigns/openapi?format=json&aid=696&akey=0PIIO9XJOC6Z&ctypeid=3&advuid=USER_DYNAMIC_ADVERTISING_ID&lang=LANG&country=COUNTRY&usragent=Mozilla/5.0%20(Windows%20NT%2010.0;%20Win64;%20x64;%20MSAppHost/3.0)%20AppleWebKit/537.36%20(KHTML,%20like%20Gecko)%20Chrome/58.0.3029.110%20Safari/537.36%20Edge/16.16299&adsize=768X1024&testing=1

Which should return an example JSON like this:

({"adimageheight":1024,"adimageurl":"https://addeals.s3.amazonaws.com/campaigns/pub8/768x1024_hangman_test.jpg","adimagewidth":768,"adtrackinglink":"https://ads.addealsnetwork.com/AdDeals/Tracking/Redirect?aid=696&akey=0PIIO9XJOC6Z&oapi=1&fcp=1&deviceID=&advertiserUDID=USER_DYNAMIC_ADVERTISING_ID&dmodel=&os=10.0&cid=775&mop=&conn=CELLULAR_UNKNOWN&creativeID=263&usragent=&usrid=3694673&adw=768&adh=1024"})

However, running the code in Debug mode resulted in a Bitdefender threat warning with a path from my App’s repos.

Item was blocked. Threat name:
Gen:Suspicious.Cloud.4.iu0@aqTyf3k.

If it’s just a JSON response, it should not pose any threat??

applications – Floating action button not implementing Alert Dialog

I have a simple app that has a button which should display an alert dialog to the user on click but its not working.Below is the code for the button’s xml and java function code . Am new to this so any help will surely be apreciated..

Xml code for the button

 <com.google.android.material.floatingactionbutton.FloatingActionButton
        android:id="@+id/fab"
        android:layout_width="wrap_content"
        android:layout_height="wrap_content"
        android:layout_gravity="bottom|end"
        android:layout_margin="@dimen/fab_margin"
        app:srcCompat="@android:drawable/ic_dialog_email" />

Java code that handles the onclick event of that button

package com.example.login;

import android.app.AlertDialog;
import android.os.Bundle;

import com.google.android.material.floatingactionbutton.FloatingActionButton;
import com.google.android.material.snackbar.Snackbar;

import androidx.appcompat.app.AppCompatActivity;
import androidx.appcompat.widget.Toolbar;

import android.view.View;

import android.view.Menu;
import android.view.MenuItem;

public class MainActivity extends AppCompatActivity {

    @Override
    protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
        setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
        Toolbar toolbar = findViewById(R.id.toolbar);
        setSupportActionBar(toolbar);

        FloatingActionButton fab = findViewById(R.id.fab);
        fab.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
            public void onClick(View v) {
                AlertDialog.Builder builder = new AlertDialog.Builder(MainActivity.this);

// 2. Chain together various setter methods to set the dialog characteristics
                builder.setMessage(R.string.dialog_message)
                        .setTitle(R.string.dialog_title);

// 3. Get the <code><a href="/reference/android/app/AlertDialog.html">AlertDialog</a></code> from <code><a href="/reference/android/app/AlertDialog.Builder.html#create()">create()</a></code>
                AlertDialog dialog = builder.create();
            }

        });
    }

    @Override
    public boolean onCreateOptionsMenu(Menu menu) {
        // Inflate the menu; this adds items to the action bar if it is present.
        getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.menu_main, menu);
        return true;
    }

    @Override
    public boolean onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item) {
        // Handle action bar item clicks here. The action bar will
        // automatically handle clicks on the Home/Up button, so long
        // as you specify a parent activity in AndroidManifest.xml.
        int id = item.getItemId();

        //noinspection SimplifiableIfStatement
        if (id == R.id.action_settings) {
            return true;
        }

        return super.onOptionsItemSelected(item);
    }
}

The floating action fab is my button and alongside its methods of implementing the alert dialog box.
Thank You
