I have a noncommercial surface 3 with Ubuntu 18.04 and Xournal. I want people able to use it as a pen so that the tip of the eraser works like an eraser instead of a pen.
I have searched and found answers like this one: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=830496, suggesting what to put in
In addition to the answers saying to set it up so that it recognizes the tip of the eraser, it needs to be configured as a Wacom pen.
The problem was that I did not find the proper instructions to register my surface stylus as a wacom pen so I could follow the recommended guides.
Output of xinput:

xsetwacom --list devices nothing comes out.
