dnd 5e – If a character takes the (accurate) form of an aboleth, does the character gain their ancestral-genetic memories?

Via the spells true polymorph and shapechange, it is possible for any qualified recipient to gain a very accurate form of an aboleth. (A CR or level of 10+ is required to use true polymorph this way – though shapechange only requires one to cast the spell.)

The description of the aboleth in the Monster Manual (page 14) suggests that all of these creatures have an ancestral-genetic memory of every previous aboleth that ever existed. The description does not say this directly, but does state that they have ‘flawless memories’ and will ‘pass on their knowledge and experience from generation to generation’ – without stating how this is done.

Hence my question:

Does taking the form of an aboleth allow a character to gain their genetic memory?

If so, any wizard, bard or sorcerer with access to either of these two spells (or other similarly accurate shape-changing magic) could have rapid, accurate, and powerful research capacities.

dnd 5e – Is it possible for a player to gain the innate ability to regenerate body parts without spells?

Using the DMG’s Injuries variant rule (or just having a character who for whatever reason is missing a body part), a character can lose an arm, leg, or eye, and the regenerate spell is the normal way to get it back. But if you don’t have a party member that can cast that, finding someone who can could be quite a hassle. Hence, the question in the title.

Ioun stones are obvious targets for enemies, and a dragon could eat the arm carrying your ring of regeneration. Undying Warlocks get close with their 14th-level feature, but that only lets them reattach body parts, so if their arm does get eaten off, then they’re stuck, too. The UA Armorer subclass for Artificers doesn’t regrow limbs, but it basically gives you an always-on prosthetic limb for any arm or leg that you lose. Eyes (or any other scars or internal injuries), however, aren’t “limbs”. I can’t find any other feature (and don’t know of any race) that gets closer to the goal of regeneration without needing to rely on spells or magic items, other than just playing a monster campaign as a troll (AKA not something a “PC” is generally able to do)

Can a business with a single employee gain ISO27001 certification?

I would like to bid for contracts where ISO27001 certification is a requirement. I build cloud based bespoke software.

How feasible is this?
How long would it take?
I assume that ISO27001 is all about processes, checks and balances – can this be applied to a single person?

dnd 5e – Does a Split Party Gain XP Evenly?

I’ve been in games where some characters split off from the group and went on their own side mission and got in a fight. What I can tell you is that it was a bad experience. It resulted in a long span of time where my character couldn’t do anything because they weren’t physically present.

This is only slightly unpleasant if it’s just the rogue splitting off to scout the next encounter, but if characters get in a whole battle, that’s a lot of downtime for the players who aren’t there.

The worry is: if you start giving experience points (and, eventually, levels) to characters who split off from the party and get in encounters in small groups, it might make them want to do it more, so that they can gain more levels relative to the rest of the party.

The DMG writes: “A gap of two or three levels between different characters in the same party isn’t going to ruin the game for anyone”, but a gap of two or three levels represents an extremely significant difference in capability.

I recommend that you spread the experience evenly (or use milestones!), and also that you try not to let your group get in combat when the party is split.

wireless – What may a attacker do when they gain have password to my wifi router

So, suppose you gain access to my wifi router through some attacks (may be brute-force). After a days or two I changed my wifi password with more complexity. So what can you(a attacker) do to again to gain gain access to the same network?
Will it be possible that the attacker make some configuration in my router and then make it venerable so that he can crack it much much faster and easier the next day.

dnd 5e – Can I gain Piety from multiple Deities on Theros?

It’s up to the DM, but the system is written assuming a single god, with one exception.

After reading the character creation section and the piety section, it seems abundantly clear that the rules are assuming you only follow a single god, but it is never explicitly stated. I can offer a few examples, though there are more.

From the Character Creation section.

On ideals:

Many characters’ ideals come directly from their service to a god. Each god’s description in chapter 2 includes a table you can use to determine your hero’s ideal if your character serves that god, instead of (or in addition to) an ideal derived from your background.

On supernatural gifts:

A character in Theros begins with one supernatural gift chosen from those in this section. Work with the DM to decide where your character’s gift came from. Is it tied to the god you serve?

From the God of Theros section.

On the difference between heroes and mere mortals:

It’s far more common for a hero to be devoted to an individual god than it is for an ordinary mortal.

On starting out:

When you choose a god to worship as a beginning character, your piety score related to that god is 1. Your piety score increases by 1 when you do something to advance the god’s interests or behave in accordance with the god’s ideals.

On piety score:

As a general rule, you can expect to increase your piety by 1 during most sessions of play, assuming that you are following your god’s tenets.

Notably, piety score is always referred to singularly.

The Oracle may follow multiple gods.

From the description of the Oracle supernatural gift:

The gods seek mortal oracles to act as their agents. As a result, most oracles devote themselves to the service of a single god and learn to ignore the voices of all others. Occasionally, two gods agree to share the services of an oracle. Oracles who try to remain independent often find themselves pursued by the agents of evil gods who would bind them to the god’s service, if necessary.

With this gift, the rules explicitly mention following two gods, but this gift precludes the use of the traditional piety system:

If you choose the Oracle supernatural gift, you gain different rewards for your piety score, instead of the ones normally granted by your god.

The only section that explicitly mentions serving more than a single god has an entirely unique piety system associated with it.

The message here is clear: the intent is that you only benefit from a single set of piety derived blessings at a time.

But to be clear, a DM may allow a player to play a character who follows two gods and has to juggle their responsibilities to each. The issue with this is that the divine blessings given by the piety system are quite good. A wise DM would consider the balance implications of permitting a character to double-dip, so to speak, into these blessings. Notably, the +50 piety blessings for every god is a +2 to an ability score and its max – equivalent to an epic boon. Allowing one player to double dip here is so significant a benefit, mechanically minded players will almost certainly find a way to shoehorn it into their back story.
