## automorphic forms – The notion of smoothness in the local situation

I am reading Bump’s book on Automorphic forms and Represenations and I am able to draw a lot of paralells between the theory of $$GL(2, mathbb{R})$$ which is the infinite place and the theory of $$GL(2,F)$$ where $$F$$ is a local field which corresponds to the finite places.

There are notions of smooth functions in both the setups. In the case of $$GL(2,mathbb{R})$$, the smoothness is the usual definition (considering the differential manifold structure on $$GL(2,mathbb{R})$$). But in the local case, smoothness is defined to be locally constant. Is there any differential structure on $$GL(2,F)$$ which justifies this definition? Or in other words, what is the motivation for defining smoothness in this fashion?

## security – Linked server only works if I am on the machine itself. I can’t use it from my local computer. what is missing?

I have a few queries that I use to monitor log shipping. Sometimes I want to run those queries on a different server. I usually do that through a linked server.

I have a server called `SQLDEV4-TS` that has a linked server to `MY_SERVERDEVELOPMENT`

ON `SQLDEV4-TS` I have setup Kerberos as per the picture below:

I have this query below that I use to test the connectivity to the linked server.

``````DECLARE @server_name sysname = @@servername
SELECT @server_name=N'MY_SERVERDEVELOPMENT'
DECLARE @sql NVARCHAR(MAX) = N'SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY((' + @server_name +'),
BEGIN TRY
EXEC sp_executesql @sql=@sql
END TRY
BEGIN CATCH
SELECT (error_number)=ERROR_NUMBER(), (error_message)=ERROR_MESSAGE();
END CATCH;
PRINT 'We got past the Catch block!';
``````

When I am on the server itself – `SQLDEV4-TS` – and I run the above script I get the following result:

All good – it works as expected – no problem.

However, when I connect to `SQLDEV4-TS` from my local machine, and run the script (on my machine)
I get the following result:

Login failed for user ‘NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON’.

What is missing in this linked server setting, that I have to be on the machine itself for it to work?

## dns – How to correctly point a subdomain to my local server?

I have been using No-IP.com’s free service and a subdomain they provided to access my local server, which is on my computer. I use EasyPHP devserver as my local server.

In order to not continue to rely on No-IP.com’s service, I added an A Record to my own domain name (xxxxxxx.dev) and pointed the newly created subdomain (xxx.xxxxxxx.dev) to my IP address. However, it is not working.

As the time of writing this question, I have tested accessing my local server with my IP address and the subdomain provided by No-IP.com, and both works. It’s just my own subdomain (xxx.xxxxxxx.dev) that isn’t working, and my browser’s error message says it can’t establish a connection to the server at xxx.xxxxxxx.dev.

What am I doing wrong?

Some culprits I’m suspecting are:

• SSL issue. Browsers automatically change the connection to a .dev domain to a secured connection. But my browser’s error message does not seem to suggest a SSL issue.
• Anti-virus software issue. Not sure how to check if it is related. But I don’t see my anti-virus showing any warning.

## Idea for using user local installed program in web application ASP.NET

I have to choose what kind of framework in .NET I will use to build my application. I have to choose between ASP.NET Core vs WPF. The only problem which I have with web solution is fact that my application must have option to generate documents in overriding ERP system. One of the ERP systems which we use gives us dll with API and we add documents through that API. The problem is that this API requires installed instance of ERP system on the computer where API is running. So in web solution I would have to create web service on server where ERP is installed or use local resources on user disk. Unfortunately business doesn’t agree on web service because of some limitations. I try to find the way to get in ASP.NET app access to user disk e.g ERP system installed on his C disk and run API from that localization. Is there any posibillity to do it with ASP.NET or JS or something different? I will be grateful for all the hints .

## local customs – How “cheap” it is not to order drinks together with the meal in the restaurant?

It’s not something I do anymore, but on my student times, when the money was more limited, and I needed to eat something when travelling, I used to save costs by drinking my own water before entering the restaurant and order meal only.

I’m perfectly aware that restaurants generally make money on drinks, not meals, and they expect you to order drink to the meal, but I was going to go cheap.

My question is, how “cheap” such behavior is and is it something that I should generally ‘hide from my CV’? Or it’s just a ‘student thing’? Was it something against something customs (just like not tipping in the USA) or just a normal young person pattern?

This is particular about the continental Europe.

## Which website to use when choosing local US flights?

Could you recommend a good website that allows comparing prices across different airlines for local US flights?
I have been using Kayak for a long time but I am wondering if there is a resource for flights within the US which gives more choice and/or cheaper options.

## How to buy Bitcoin in India except local bitcoins?

```local p = {}
function p.switch(frame)
-- Categories: Cast, characters, and episodes. Soon webisodes
--Cast
local data = {
cast = {
{
linkto = 'Cast categories: ((:Category:Main Cast|Main cast characters)), ((:Category:Cast|full cast)).'
dpl = ' category = Cast '
},
characters = {
linkto = 'Characters categories:((:Category:Minor Characters|Minor characters)), ((:Category:Main Characters|main characters)), ((:Category:Characters|full list))'
dpl = ' category = Characters '
},
episodes = {
linkto = '((:Category:Season One Episodes|season one)), ((:Category:Season Two Episodes|season two)).'
dpl = ' category = Episodes '
}
}
local textkey = frame.args(1)
if data(text) ~= nil and data(text)(textkey) ~= nil then
text = data(text)(textkey)
else
text = nil -- Modify invalid key output here
end
return text
end
return p
```

NOTA: en

`dpl = `

No es solo ‘ category = ‘ si no también uso la tag DPL para que use el DPL, solo que el sitio me lo borra.

## Using local storage to keep a check box checked (javascript)

I’m trying to have a checkbox keep it’s state in local storage and I’m having some issues. If the box os checked, a DIV is visible and if unchecked the DIV hides itself. When the browser refreshes the checkbox resets. I’ve tried several sources online and they all have me constructing it a different way, here’s what I have now:

If the variable is not null set it to what’s in local storage.
If the variable is null , set it to checked.
Where am I going wrong?

`````` const switchBtn = document.createElement('input');
switchBtn.setAttribute('type', 'checkbox');
switchBtn.setAttribute('id','switchBtn');
let checkStatus = localStorage.checkStatus;
if(checkStatus != null){
let checkStatus = localStorage.checkStatus;
}
if(checkStatus == null){
let checkStatus = switchBtn.checked = true;
}
if (switchBtn.checked == true){
triageBar.style.display = "block";
localStorage.checkStatus = switchBtn.checked = true;
} else {
triageBar.style.display = "none";
localStorage.checkStatus = switchBtn.checked = false;
}
})
``````

## Is there an option to block local network access for apps?

I’m trying to prevent apps from accessing other devices on the same network (LAN). Something similar to this iOS setting.
Some searching led me to this feature in Express VPN. Is there a way to do this in Android Settings or using a non-vpn app?
