mysql – how to rewrite sql query with subquery to find max element without using limit?

the question is here

Return the name of the category that has the most films.

There are 2 databases – film_category:

film_id category_id last_update
1 6 2017-02-15 10:07:09-08
2 11 2017-02-15 10:07:09-08
3 6 2017-02-15 10:07:09-08
4 11 2017-02-15 10:07:09-08
5 8 2017-02-15 10:07:09-08

and category:

category_id name last_update
1 Action 2017-02-15 09:46:27-08
2 Animation 2017-02-15 09:46:27-08
3 Children 2017-02-15 09:46:27-08

I have made it work, but I feel there is a way to refactor without ‘limit’

select category.name from film_category inner join
 category on category.category_id = film_category.category_id
 group by category.name
order by count(film_category.film_id) desc limit 1

I dont know how to write it without ‘limit 1’

select category.name from film_category inner join
     category on category.category_id = film_category.category_id
     group by category.name
     having count(film_category.film_id) > (select max().... )

dnd 5e – Is the max HP reduction from the Diseased Giant Rat permanent?

The variant Diseased Giant Rat (MM pg. 327) has a feature that when it hits with an attack and the target fails a saving throw, they contract a disease. The text says

Until the disease is cured the target can’t regain hit points except by magical means, and the target’s hit point maximum decreases by 3 (1d6) every 24 hours. (…)

Is this reduction permanent or will the character regain their original maximum HP when cured of the disease?

My confusion stems from the fact that all information about the effect follows the “Until the disease is cured” statement, which could mean that the reduction only lasts until the target is cured. On the other hand one could argue that it is only further reductions that are mentioned and thus prevented by curing the target and the previous ones are separate effects that has already taken place.

video – Why does every website seem to use max volume level for sound?

Good question, it has bugged me in the past.

From W3C – Audio Control:Understanding SC 1.4.2, it seems that pages that do not offer sound control, or mute, functionality are not adhering to the criterion. Summarising the link:

1.4.2 Audio Control: If any audio on a Web page plays automatically for more than 3 seconds, either a mechanism is available to pause or
stop the audio, or a mechanism is available to control audio volume
independently from the overall system volume level.

Individuals who use screen reading software can find it hard to hear
the speech output if there is other audio playing at the same time.
This difficulty is exacerbated when the screen reader’s speech output
is software based (as most are today) and is controlled via the same
volume control as the sound. Therefore, it is important that the user
be able to turn off the background sound. Note: Having control of the
volume includes being able to reduce its volume to zero.

Note the the player in youtu.be offers this control, and remembers previous settings.

Note this page on HTML 5 shows that the controls will be present for volume control.

All of the browsers have start/pause controls, progress bars,
scrubbers, seconds of play, a volume/mute control and, with the
exception of Chrome, also display the total number of seconds in the
sound file.

The issue was with earlier HTML 4 (and 3?) embedded (<embed>) audio players, as this code (from 2006) shows

<embed src="https://ux.stackexchange.com/mymusic.mp3"

Source: How do I play embedded sounds at a specific volume?

If DOM is used then unfortunately the default is set to 100%, although this can be overriden by the web page designer (should they choose to do so):

Example values:

1.0 is highest volume (100%. This is default)

0.5 is half volume (50%)

0.0 is silent (same as mute)

So, it appears to come down to which mechanism the web page designer has employed to get sound on to the page.

With respect to audio blasting out, as soon as the page is loaded, that is down to the autoplay tag, which should be considered a no-no… but it is still offered as an option:

<audio src="https://ux.stackexchange.com/audio.mp3" controls autoplay></audio>

The Boolean autoplay attribute is one that I don’t recommend using
because it specifies that the audio begin playing as soon as the page
loads. This is a usability no-no for most scenarios, so exercise
restraint in using this attribute. If you do decide to utilize
autoplay, please be sure to include the controls attribute (or roll
your own custom controls) so that your users can stop the audio or
reduce volume.

plotting – How to plot the max value of a coordinate using ListDensityPlot?

I would like to plot yΓ—x from a list with 3 levels using ListDensityPlot. Each sublevel of the list have coordinates of the type
{{x,y,z1}, {x,y,z2}, {x,y,z3}, {x,y,z4}}

I would like to represent z1(x,y) β†’ red color, z2(x,y) β†’ blue, z3(x,y) β†’ green, and z4(x,y) β†’ orange.
At each point (x,y), if z1(x,y) has the highest value in relation to z2(x,y), z3(x,y) and/or z4(x,y), to color the respective point with red color. If at some point (x,y), z2(x,y) has the largest value in relation to z1(x,y), z3(x,y), and z4(x,y) to color that point with blue. If at any point (x,y), z3(x,y) has a value greater than z1(x,y), z2(x,y) and/or z4(x,y), then to color the respective point with green. Finally, if at any point (x,y), z4(x,y) has a value greater than z1(x,y), z2(x,y), and/or z3(x,y), then to color the respective point with orange. The figure below shows the expected scheme. enter image description here

max cpu usage β€” πŸ‘‰ GSA SEO and Marketing Forum πŸ‘ˆ

at just 5 projects, 140 thread cpu is at max. cpu is going 100% even at 120 threads. Earlier i was running 15-20 projects, 170 threads at minimum.

This has been going on for last 2 months for most version of SER except one version but i don’t remember which one was working fine.

Can’t perform a factory reset on AirPods Max

According to Apple’s instruction factory reset is performed by pressing and holding both NC button and Digital Crown until the indicator light flashes amber and then white. However, in my case the light only flashes amber and nothing happens next. I tried holding buttons a little bit longer but the white flash never happened. Headphones are charged around 90%, so it’s not a battery issue.

Any ideas?

dnd 5e – Will it break the game, if healing in combat heals the max instead of rolling?

This answer is based on a few years’ experience playing and GM’ing DnD 5e, and I will assume that you’ll be able to treat “being in combat” in a loose but generally understandable sense that won’t be used to invoke this rule at will.

Probably not game-breaking

Don’t expect it to change much, though. While many people expect the “party healer” to be a significant role in DnD 5e – and while it somewhat is (more on that later), in-combat healing is generally speaking very weak and inefficient, and one should in the vast majority of cases concentrate on downing one’s enemies faster rather than trying to undo their damage.

There are circumstances where in-combat healing is worth it, but these are generally summarizable in one sentence: is the target at 0 hit points? If so, healing them to even one hit point will restore their consciousness, avert the immediate risk of the target dying, and allow them to take actions in combat on their next turn (barring other obstacles to that). But while the difference between 0 and 1 hit points is huge, beyond that it matters fairly little. A very high level healing spell might be able to make you able to survive a few blows at a considerable opportunity cost in spell slots.

As a rule of thumb, one could say that a little healing is a lot better than no healing, but a lot of healing is little better than a little healing.

Does this rule change that? Obviously a bit, but not much. The amount of hit points healed by healing magic is generally negligible, excepting very high-level magic that comes at significant costs. For low-level healing magic, the effect won’t be very noticeable, and while it might be for higher-level healing where many dice are rolled, upcasting healing will still remain a poor use of a slot in most cases.

I still wouldn’t do this

As a result of this change, in-combat healing will still be a weak strategy, although of course now it’s not quite as weak. But I’d argue against rewarding your players for micro-managing their healing resources (spell slots etc) for maximum impact, eg. by trying to squeeze extra healing during the final turns of combat. I would personally find that somewhat stressful, since I am somewhat prone to borderline compulsive micro-optimization, and I know many players feel the same.

In your shoes, I’d embrace the fact that in-combat healing is not very powerful in DnD 5e. Healing in combat moves the scene backwards instead of forward, it is reactive instead of proactive, it slows the action instead of accelerating it. Instead, let your “semi-healer” work their magic in emergencies and between encounters, and let your players have a few healing potions here and there if their other resources don’t carry them through the day.

As a closing note, you shouldn’t stress about it either way. You haven’t started the game yet, and trying to pre-empt everything by fixing house rules now will not work. Try it out, see what kinds of problems you encounter, and then using the shared experience, you can hash out the necessary house rules and rulings together with your players.
