gnupg – What should I do next? WARNING: This key is not certified with a trusted signature. There is no indication that the signature belongs to the owner

I had recently downloaded a (very popular)file from the internet. I got the above warning while executing gpg verify. So, what should I do to get the right file to download? Should I notify the website owner/mamager? Or try downloading the file later?
This is what I had done:

  1. Downloaded three files(main file, *.asc and *.sha{By the way, is it better (than downloading directly) the *.asc and *.sha files, be created manually by reading the text published?})
  2. ran gpg verify command and it said key server not available
  3. ran gpg with keyserver(keys.openpgp.com) and recv-key((I suppose its the key’s fingeprint) from previous step) it said there is a new key with no userid so it has been skipped
  4. (Please inform me if this is wrong:) I took the new key(key’s fingeprint) and queried for it in another key server then it said that the new key has been imported(after few duplicates being deleted and reordered). Now it showed a guy’s email id.
  5. Repeated step 2. Then it showed the usual(rsa, name, emailid etc.) and the above warning(in the title)

Also I ran gpg –list –sigs and it didn’t show different names(i.e., to confirm that the user who signed is someone whom they had contacted/belongs to web of trust)(If I had understood the concept correctly!)

Permissions tab is disabled for the owner

I am the owner of an SP online site and the permissions tab has been disabled for me.
enter image description here

but I can still add users to the documnet library through the right-hand side menu as shown below:

I do not know how this has happened or how to fix the issue.

im getting a site currently unavailable, if you are the owner then please contact host provider error – but only on my mac

wallet – How to protect my private key from an unexpected new owner of the address that already belongs to me?

The mitigation is the absolutely massive address space. Other than that, there is no way to ‘protect’ or otherwise ‘claim’ a keypair/address as yours and yours alone. If someone (by some unfathomable coincidence) manages to generate the same address that your wallet did, then you will both be able to spend any funds locked to that address.

Thankfully, the chances of this happening are super duper incredibly small. You would expend far more energy (money) looking for an already-used address than you could ever be expected to make by taking the bitcoin you are hunting for.

Perhaps worth mentioning: the above holds true iff the private keys for the address in question are generated in a suitably random (high entropy) way. If you use a poor source of entropy, then it become much, much easier for someone to brute force search for your keys.

privacy – How to encrypt data in cloud and not allow even the website owner to view it?

I believe you are talking about End to End encryption.

It is possible to encrypt data inside the clients browser via a password or a pub/priv keypair that is stashed in local storage. This would allow for data to be encrypted on the client computer and then stashed on the server in such a way that it couldn’t be decrypted from the server side (kindof).

The problem with this is that the server is hosting the algorithm that would encrypt/decrypt the data and it would be trivially easy for them to modify the code at a later date to steal the password or pub/priv key pair.

It might not be the company’s intent to do this, but they might hire a rogue actor or be forced to include some “special” code by a nation state.

The only real way for it to be secure is for the encryption to be done via an application that the hosting provider does not have access too. For example you could use pgp to encrypt a file, and then upload that file. Any cryptography that happens in the browser itself (aside from the https communication channel) should be treated as unsecure.

Google Search Console property not visible to delegated owner

Just had this issue, and the property was showing in Owner2 Webmasters Tools as well.

When in the Search Console under Owner2, click Add property on the top left, and you will see the same screen as for adding it for the first time (two options for domain or URL verification), which scared me off in the beginning. But once you type the domain name and click the button, it will say “Ownership Verified”, and that’s it 🙂

checkout – Braintree Core “Sorry, but something went wrong. Please contact the store owner.” after 2.4.2 upgrade

After a successful upgrade to magento 2.4.2 from 2.3.3, the gene/braintree module was deleted and replaced with Braintree Core, and I noticed my old settings were retained. I cannot get checkout to initiate, when I click on Paypal or Credit Card (braintree payment options) I get “Sorry, but something went wrong. Please contact the store owner.”. I have created new API keys and verified that my merchant ID is entered correctly, nothing seems amiss in settings. Has anyone else encountered this?

Algorithm to find ‘owner’ of an arbitrary (scammer) URL?

I’m getting a lot of scams on my mobile phone, and have just tried explaining to my wife how to find out who the ‘owner’ (network host name?) of a URL is before clicking on it. The basics are obvious – scan from the right till you find the TLD, work back to the left. But, of course, this is non-trivial, and I gave up. TLDs have proliferated to the point where they’re useless, some countries have a second-level hierarchy and some don’t, and the real killer is that the filename portion of the URL can contain dot characters and can (I think) look like a domain.

Is there an algorithm which can always extract an org name from a URL? For bonus points, does anyone know of a website that’ll do this for you? A whois search should do the job, of course, but the output is generally too complex for an amateur to understand.

Simple example, which I received yesterday, with no page portion: https://nhs.uk.pcr-kit.co.uk (which is ‘safe’according to Google and VirusTotal, but which is a Covid contact testing scam).

How can a Microsoft 365 group owner be removed from members using powershell?

As answered here, I know a group owner can be removed from members using the Microsoft Admin Center at https://admin.microsoft.com/AdminPortal/Home#/groups/ via GUI.
Trying to perform the same change via powershell results in an error:

Remove-UnifiedGroupLinks -Identity "$listname@mydomain.org" -LinkType member -Links $MMGroupOwner -confirm:$false

Only Members who are not owners can be removed from group. Please remove ' 'domain-admin' as owners before removing them as members. d7
