automator – How to use Applescript to open a printer app and select items within?

I have absolutely no knowledge or experience in using Applescript or Automator. I’m hoping by using either to create an app (or script) that will print a test page off my printer automatically. I know how to open the printer app (Canon iX6800, but I’m stuck from there with the dialog box not knowing how to continue to do the following steps:

  1. Run “Canon iX6800 series” – I got this part…
  2. Select “Settings” or Command S
  3. Select “Utility”
  4. Select “Print Test Page”
  5. Click “OK”
  6. Quit the app.

Any suggestions or help will be greatly appreciated. I can send the actual app to whoever might need it. Thanks in advance.

ios – Is it now possible to print from iPad to a non-airprint printer shared on my Mac

I want to print from my iPad to a non-Airprint printer, ideally without having to install anything special.

The last question asking this is from 2013, and the answer refers to HandyPrint which hasn’t had any attention since August 2018. Since then there have been 2 new version of macOS and iPadOS.

Are we still in the same place regarding printing to macOS shared printers from iPads and iPhones?

printer – Canon Pixma does not recognize ink cartridge after power failure

I have this Canon Pixma MG7550, using compatible cartridges. It used to work correctly, but a few days ago my home got a power failure while the printer was on (not printing or anything, just on). Booting it back up, it complained about not being switched off correctly. Now, whenever I switch it on, I get an error 1410, saying one cartridge is not recognized. When I open the tray, the PGBK slot is blinking red. I’ve tried to remove it, unplug/plug and reinsert the cartridge, but to no avail. I also tried to replace it with another old compatible one, it was recognized either.

Does anyone know how to fix that? It worked previously, so I don’t think it’s related to being a compatible cartridge. I haven’t done any firmware update, and the other cartridges are also compatible ones and are detected correctly.

macos – Why can not print with IPv6 link-local printer in OSX?

I want to use ipv6 printer.
How should I set the address on the printer add screen in macOS 10.14?

I added an IPv6 printer with macOS 10.14 but cannot print.

Can I use my Canon Pixma AiO printer for scanning film?

I would like start scanning 120 and 35mm films, but my flatbed scanner (Canon Pixma 9155 AiO printer) doesn’t officially support this. It doesn’t come with a film holder, the software doesn’t support this and I also cannot remove the reflective sheet from the scanning unit since it’s glued on. I would really hate having to buy a film scanner for the few rolls of film I shoot.
Is it possible using some low cost, low effort hacks to still get decent quality scans?

macos – How to Fix Issue: Printer Will Not Print, Gets Stuck at 40%?

I have a user who came across this issue recently with their hp officejet 8620 printer. The Printer will not print. No matter what we seem to try on the Mac it will not print.

When printing is tested from the Mac, the printer gets stuck at 40% after about 5 minutes an error is displayed “unable to verify, printer not responding”. When printing from any other Mac or device, printing works.

Is there anything else I can try?

  • rebooting Mac
  • rebooting the printer
  • resetting the printer to its factory settings
  • reset the printing system on the mac
  • clearing the queue
  • adding the printer by IP address
  • installing the HP SMART software
  • removing all traces of the HP printer from /Library/Printers, and the Trash
  • printer is on the same subnet
  • printer can be pinged from the Mac

How to fix Canon 5b00 printer error code in few easy steps?

Canon 5b00 printer error code
Open the ink cartridge compartment. Depending on the Canon printer model you are using, this compartment may be located on the front or back of the machine.
Canon 5b00 printer error code
Rest assured that the ink cartridges will move up correctly.

Next, separate the capacity line from the printer.

Behind the cartridge is a line of white rollers. Look a little square near the roller that looks like a foam cushion.

You must separate the shield from used ink by gently pulling on its multipurpose package.

Clean it with a paper towel. Strive to accumulate all of the waste ink on the pieces of paper towels.

Replace all cartridges in their proper locations.

Reinstall the edge into the printer.

You can now press and hold the power button, then reconnect the power cord.

As soon as the printer advances, release the latch.

Hold for five seconds and press the power button again. This resets the printer's internal memory and repeals the 5b00 tightening code.

Epson XP820 photo printer alignment issue

I have an Epson XP820 inkjet photo printer and I recently developed an alignment issue. After performing the printer alignment process several times, I am unable to sort the vertical stripes in two of the rows of the test pattern (see illustration below, lines 3 and 5). I have tried to realign it several times and sort all the other lines, run nozzle checks, replace the ink cartridges, and I still can't reduce these whites. All the other color prints turn out well, except for the photos which seem completely blurry. Ideas???? enter description of image here
